SO, Right Round was just a rockin' little monster in June - lots of people came, lots of people stayed until the end, and I had a little surprise when Ian McKaye (yes, THAT Ian McKaye) popped through the backstage door and walked over to ask me what I'd be playing for the evening. He's an awfully nice fellow, and didn't completely cringe when I said, "blippy bleepy 80s dance music", so that's a plus...

So, along with graduation weekend came a lower-than-normal turnout, however what the crowd lacked in size, they MORE than made up for in enthusiasm! I tried out a couple of things that I either haven't played in a while, or I just was never sure would work - and they TOTALLY did! More than 40 of the city’s finest restaurants will participate in this gastronomic event. Complementing the evening’s haute cuisine, guests can look forward to the new Wine Bar feature as well as specialty cocktails from the city’s top mixologists, including Master Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim from Las Vegas. Complete with the festive sounds of DJ Erin Myers plus fabulous live and silent auctions, this culinary celebration is sure to be a night to remember.

This year’s VIP section will launch its first interactive feature, as Chef Chair RJ Cooper and Chef Kaz Okochi lead hands-on demonstrations with VIP guests while top mixologists create innovative cocktails. Guests will also have the opportunity to sample sweet treats throughout the night from DC’s finest pastry chefs in the new VIP Dessert Den.

VIP guests will have the rare opportunity to mingle with notable DC chefs who will be honored for their long-standing dedication to the local culinary community. This year’s honorees are:

GREAT night!!! SO fun!!! YAY!

I think there were something like 370 people in the room - it was packed, the vibe was great, there were NO stalkers anywhere (although I got the distinct feeling that someone was vying for that title, but anyway...) - all in all, a winner.
